Award Winning Energy Management System
Prince Jonah Kuhio Federal Building, Honolulu, HI
System Integrator: Systems Associates – Bowling Green, OH
Systems Associates has won multiple awards for their retrofit project installing an Energy Management and Control System in the Prince Kuhio federal building in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The building was originally constructed in the late 1970’s at a time when building materials and building codes led to relatively inefficient buildings. After the retrofit projects were completed the building was able to achieve an EnergyStar score of 99 out of a possible 100, meaning the building is more energy efficient than 99% of buildings in it’s class. ASIC/2 configurable controllers are used to control all central plant functions. The EMS project has yielded an estimated energy savings of $200,000 per year.
